About Us

Our History and Animals

LouAg Farms started in 2004 and was named after Louis and Agnes who originally operated a dairy farm on the main ~50 acre location.  We also raise bison on two other ~30 acre farm locations in Floyds Knobs, and all three make up 3 linear generations of Kruer land ownership.  We are proudly maintaining their heritage and wish to uphold the legacy for many years and generations to come.

All-natural feed (pasture plus non-GMO hay, oats, and corn) combined with practices free from any growth hormones, steroids, and artificial reproduction make our North American Bison as healthy as nature can provide.  Left to their natural instincts, bison (same as buffalo) are highly adaptable and extremely rugged which is why they have survived for thousands of years.  The bulls that have been used to breed our heard have come from the plains of the Dakotas and Canada, so they are continuing nature's rugged bison natural genetic heritage.

Products

We offer classic steak cuts like Filets, Rib-eyes, Strip Loins, and Sirloins, and we also have cuts like Flat-Iron, Flank, and Skirt Steak available. There are several different roasts to choose from, as well as stew meat, jerky, marrow bones, and ground bison by the pound – just to name a few.

Meat is available for purchase and pickup during normal business hours from our home in southern Indiana.  Call Kathy or Doug at 812-989-5140 or 502-558-6837 for more details or to arrange an order and local pickup.

Cooking Bison meat is different...

Cooking Bison is different than cooking other red meats because it is leaner meat with less fat, less sodium, and less cholesterol.  Low and slow is typically the general cooking strategy.  This link has useful information for cooking bison meat:  https://bisoncentral.com/how-to-cook-bison/
